My Job as a Lifeguard

 One of the most rewarding jobs I’ve ever had is working as a lifeguard. I started lifeguarding because I’ve always loved swimming and being around the water, but I quickly realized it’s a job that comes with a lot of responsibility. Every time I’m on duty, I have to stay alert, focused, and aware of everything happening around the pool. It’s not just about sitting in a chair and watching people swim — it’s about keeping everyone safe and being ready to act instantly if something goes wrong. I’ve gone through intense training in CPR, first aid, and water rescue, and those skills have made me more confident in my ability to help others. One thing I really like about lifeguarding is how it teaches you to stay calm under pressure. There are moments when things can happen fast, and you need to make smart decisions right away. Working with other lifeguards has also shown me how important teamwork and communication are — we all rely on each other to keep people safe. Beyond the serious parts of the job, I also enjoy seeing kids learn how to swim, families having fun, and people feeling comfortable in the water because they know someone’s looking out for them. Lifeguarding has taught me a lot about responsibility, patience, and leadership. It’s helped me grow as a person and made me realize how meaningful it is to have a job where I can truly make a difference. Every shift reminds me that safety and awareness matter, and that even a simple act of paying attention can save a life. Being a lifeguard isn’t always easy, but it’s a job I’m really proud of.

    You have a very important job! While it does come with a lot of responsibility, it prepares you for the randomness of the world and teaches you to act quickly. You are saving lives even just by being prepared to do so. This job will greatly benefit you in the future from the lessons you've learned and the physical activity aspects of it!     Hello Jay, lifeguarding is a very important job, and you have a lot of rules you have to follow to keep people safe. You have a great job that you admire and love to do, and that is amazing. You can make anyone's day by being a lifeguard and just talking to the kids or anyone. I can definitely tell you are very passionate about your job and keeping people safe when swimming, and that is amazing. Keep up the hard work.

Going to the campus gym has become one of my favorite parts of the day. It’s not just a place to work out—it’s where I can focus on myself and take a break from school stress. I usually go in the afternoon when it’s not too crowded, and I like to start with some light cardio before moving on to weights. Over time, I’ve learned how important it is to keep a consistent routine, not just for physical health but also for mental well-being. Working out helps me clear my head, improve my mood, and gives me energy for the rest of the day. I’ve even made a few new friends who share similar goals, and we sometimes challenge each other to try new exercises. Overall, the campus gym has become a big part of my college life—it keeps me active, balanced, and motivated to stay on track with both fitness and school.
